UKTX

About

ukfree.tv, which was the go-to UK resource for transmitter data and postcode reception lookup, went offline during 2025. Nothing replaced the combination it offered. The underlying data is public and free; this site rebuilds the useful parts of it from that data.

The one editorial rule

Every claim carries an evidence class, and a claim is never promoted to a higher one without new evidence:

[V]
Verified — checked against a primary source or a measurement.
[D]
Documented — stated by a cited authority.
[I]
Inferred — derived by us from cited data.
[A]
Assumed — our judgement, and nobody's published position.

This sounds like bureaucracy and is not. A number can travel a long way on nothing more than several sites agreeing with each other, and agreement between people copying one another is not evidence. One figure on this project — the signal-to-noise ratio DVB-T2 needs — was carried as verified for exactly that reason and turned out to be wrong, in the direction that flattered our own argument. The classes exist so that the next one is caught.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, it is worth knowing, particularly if it is wrong in a way the model cannot see — actual reception at a place where this site predicts otherwise.
